Liminal by Adam Nieri, a Spotlight Selection at CapCut CRE[AI]TE AI Festival 2026, is a micro-series that's part action-adventure and part psychological thriller, set in the world of the Backrooms. Most versions of the Backrooms focus on horror. Liminal draws instead on anthropologist Arnold van Gennep's idea of the liminal, the passage between two stages of life, when a person "wavers between two worlds." The series explores time, being, death, regret, joy, and meaning. Recognized at CapCut CRE[AI]TE AI Festival 2026 as one of the 20 Spotlight Selections.
